The Society of Classical Poets (SCP) is proud to announce the winners of the 2024 International High School Poetry Competition. First Place
“The Shepherd God” by Jane Schulert, an 11th-grade student at Redeemer Classical School in Indiana, takes first place in the competition. Read “The Shepherd God” here. Schulert’s poem impressed the judges with its evocative imagery and masterful handling of classical form.
Second Place
Caroline Chen, a 14-year-old from Irvine, California, secured second place with her poem “To Speak Unique.” Read “To Speak Unique” here. Chen’s work demonstrated a sophisticated understanding of language and a unique poetic voice.
Third and Fourth Place, and Honorable Mentions
The competition also recognized several other outstanding young poets with third and fourth place awards, as well as honorable mentions. These talented students explored diverse themes and showcased their poetic skills through a variety of classical and contemporary styles.
